Rockford straddles the Rock River in far northern Illinois, a city of close to 150,000 people and the seat of Winnebago County. It earned the name Forest City for its tree-lined streets, and its houses read like a timeline of its industry. The near east side holds the oldest homes, including Haight Village's Greek Revival and Victorian houses, where Swedish immigrants who built the city's furniture trade settled after the Civil War. Brown's Hills and Knightsville near Sinnissippi Park, Churchill's Grove on the west side and the blocks around Garfield Avenue and Indian Terrace are full of foursquares, bungalows and brick homes from the early 1900s, many still with plaster walls and original trim. Postwar ranches, Cape Cods and split-levels fill out the outer neighborhoods along Alpine Road, North Main and Auburn Street, and the northeast side near Perryville Road and East State Street carries the subdivisions built from the 1980s on. One morning we're patching century-old plaster on the near east side; that afternoon we're mounting a TV in a ten-year-old ranch off Perryville.
Daily life here runs along a handful of lines on the map: the Rock River splitting the city into its east and west sides, with the Rock River Recreation Path along both banks; East State Street and Business 20 carrying traffic out to I-90 and the Hard Rock Casino near the tollway; Alpine Road and Perryville Road running north and south through the east side; and the US-20 bypass along the south edge. The landmarks anchor whole neighborhoods, from the Coronado Theatre and the City Market downtown to Sinnissippi Park, the Nicholas Conservatory, Anderson Japanese Gardens, Klehm Arboretum and Tinker Swiss Cottage.

Jobs we handle a lot in Rockford
A typical Rockford week covers a lot of ground: plaster and drywall cracks in older homes, doors that bind as humidity swings between winter and summer, gutters packed with maple and oak leaves, frost-heaved fence posts, outdoor faucets and toilets that need repair, ceiling fans and light fixtures installed and connected by our licensed electricians, TVs and shelving mounted in newer homes, and make-ready punch lists for landlords between tenants.
Questions we hear around Rockford
Do you cover the whole city?
Yes. On the west side that means Churchill's Grove, the neighborhoods off North Main and Auburn Street, and the blocks around Harrison Avenue and Kishwaukee Street; on the east side it runs from Haight Village and Brown's Hills and Knightsville out along Alpine Road, Charles Street and East State Street to the newer homes near Perryville Road and the I-90 corridor. If you have a Rockford address, we've almost certainly worked nearby.
My house is over a hundred years old. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Old Rockford houses have plaster walls, out-of-square door openings, older wiring and galvanized or cast iron plumbing in places, and we plan for all of it. We take a careful look before quoting, explain anything unusual we find, and make repairs that respect the original materials instead of covering them up.
Do you help landlords turn over rentals?
Yes. Rockford has a large share of rental housing, from old two-flats on the near east side to postwar ranches on the west side. Between tenants we patch and paint walls, fix doors and locks, repair faucets and running toilets, replace blinds, smoke alarms and light fixtures, and clear the items an inspection might flag. Let us know when the new tenant gets the keys, and we'll plan the work to finish ahead of that day.
From Your List to Done
Tell us what's nagging you
Call, text a photo, or send the form. A sentence and a snapshot is plenty — we'll ask if we need more.
Say yes to a clear price
You'll see the number before we load the trailer. Approve it, pick a time, and that's the whole negotiation.
Enjoy a shorter list
We arrive when we said, do the work carefully, tidy up, and walk you through it before we wave goodbye.
The Rockford Way of Doing Business
Built for Northern Illinois Winters
Rockford sees close to three feet of snow in a typical year, January nights that sit in the teens, and a freeze-thaw cycle that works on every joint, seam and concrete step. We repair with that in mind: sealing gaps before the cold finds them, setting posts below the frost line, choosing hardware and caulk that hold up from a February deep freeze to a humid July afternoon, and making fixes that still look right after the thaw.
A Clear Quote Before We Start
You get a plain price before any tools come out, usually from a few photos or a short look in person. No padded hours and no surprise charges tacked on at the end. If the job turns out simpler than it looked, the number comes down, and if we open a wall and find something bigger, we stop and talk it through with you before going further.
Your Whole List in One Visit
Instead of calling a different trade for every chore, hand us the list. We show up with a stocked van and work straight through it: the door that sticks every winter, the dripping kitchen faucet, the dead hallway light, the TV that needs mounting and the gutter that spills over the front steps. One booking, one arrival window, one invoice.
Neighbors, Not a Call Center
We work in Rockford and know the difference between a Haight Village Victorian and a Roscoe subdivision home built in 2004. When we say we'll be there Thursday morning, we mean Thursday morning, and because we're local, we're still a phone call away after the job is finished if something needs another look.
Towns & Neighborhoods We Cover
We're based in Rockford and cover the whole city plus the towns around it, about a 20-mile reach. That runs north through Loves Park and Machesney Park to Roscoe and Rockton, and east through Cherry Valley to Belvidere.
Got a list? Let's shorten it.
One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
