Good Questions, Honest Answers

Everything Rockford neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.

What areas around Rockford do you serve?

We're based in Rockford (61101) and cover about a 20-mile reach. That includes the whole city, east side and west side, from Haight Village and Churchill's Grove to the neighborhoods along Alpine Road, North Main and Perryville Road, plus Loves Park, Machesney Park, Roscoe, Rockton, South Beloit, Cherry Valley, New Milford, Belvidere, Winnebago and Byron. If you're near the edge of that circle, call and ask; for a fuller list we can usually make it work.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. For most jobs we can give a firm price from a few photos and a short phone call. Larger or less predictable work gets a free in-person look. Either way, you'll have a clear number before anything goes on the calendar.

Do you charge by the hour or by the job?

We price by the job whenever we can, so you know the cost before we begin. For open-ended punch-list visits, we agree on a rate and a rough scope together so nothing comes as a surprise. If something goes faster or simpler than expected, the price moves in your favor.

Are your pros licensed and insured?

Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in Illinois for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.

What jobs do you take on?

We handle the everyday repair and upkeep list: drywall and plaster patches, door adjustments, TV and shelf mounting, furniture assembly, ceiling fans and light fixtures, dimmers and smart switches, hardwired doorbells and thermostats, faucet, toilet and disposal repairs and replacements, fence and gate fixes, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, paint touch-ups, garage storage and seasonal maintenance. Send us the whole list, small items included, and we'll plan one visit around it.

Can you help get my house ready for winter?

Yes, and it's the visit we'd recommend to almost every Rockford homeowner. Before the first hard freeze, usually by late October in Rockford, we clean gutters and check downspouts, shut off and drain outdoor faucets, re-caulk gaps around windows and trim, replace worn door sweeps and weatherstripping, test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and look for spots where water or cold air is already getting in. Doing it in fall beats finding the ice dam or the split hose bib in January.

Do you work on older homes with plaster walls?

Yes, and a lot of Rockford's housing has them. Homes in Haight Village, Brown's Hills and Knightsville, Churchill's Grove and the older blocks off North Main and Seventh Street often still have original lath and plaster, old-growth trim and doors that have settled over a century. We repair plaster so it stays bonded to the lath and blends with the wall, and we adjust old doors and hardware rather than replacing what can be saved.

Can I just text you a photo of the problem?

Please do. A couple of clear photos, one close up and one from across the room, plus a sentence about what's going on, is usually enough for us to understand the job and often to price it. It also means we arrive with the right parts on the first trip.

How do I schedule, and how far out are you booked?

Give us a call or use the contact form, and include your address plus a quick rundown of what needs doing. We'll confirm an arrival window that's actually a window, not a whole day, and let you know if we're running behind. Small jobs can often be fit in within the week; longer lists may take a bit more lead time so we can block out enough hours to finish everything in one visit.

Got a list? Let's shorten it.

One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
